Challenge
People already have a messenger, so a new one needs a clear reason to switch. If chat only works on the phone, or you have to open another app to call or send a file, users leave quickly. The service also had to make it easy to talk with friends abroad.
Approach
We designed web and app as one service from the start, so conversations continue between a PC browser and a phone. Sign-up works by phone or email, so users without a Korean number can start right away with email. Voice and video calls and file transfer sit inside the chat window alongside 1:1 and group chat, so everything happens on one screen without switching apps.
Outcome
A chat app with phone and email sign-up, 1:1 and group chat, voice and video calls and file transfer — built for web and Android and released on Google Play.
